A product of Las Cruces; he grew up playing soccer with the Las Cruces Tornados, Deep Purple Cobras and finally the Las Cruces Renegades.
He attended Washington Elementary aka Washington College, Alameda Junior High and finally Mayfield High School where he played only his senior year.
He then attended NMSU and graduated with a degree in Education. He played Soccer for the NMSU soccer club where they qualified for nationals and made it to the final eight before eventually losing to national runner up BYU.
He worked for the Las Cruces Public Schools as a teacher at "the best middle school in Las Cruces, the great Lynn Middle School Cougars where I retired in 2008."
From Coach Garibay:
My coaching experience at the club level is limited to 6 years in the youth levels of U8 to U13. My true experience as a coach comes from the ranks of High School. I coached the Mayfield High School boys soccer team for 17 years where we had a great run and accomplished a lot of goals. I feel our greatest accomplishment was seeing a great number of players reach their goal of playing college soccer.
Our city has been a little gold mine of soccer talent for many years. However, a place where all kids are welcome regardless of their socioeconomic status has been absent for some time now. CFC is on its way to filling that void in our community with your support. I feel this is a great opportunity to give back to our wonderful community that has been great to me and my family. I look forward to meeting you and working with your kids.
